we’ve sold the first 100 units of the two fifty six. a second edition is expected some time next year based on demand. thank you again for your continuing support, and your patience with our assembly schedule.

40h kit by jonbro (also see the assembly process photos.) we’ve also witnessed the emergence of a 10h (4×4) on the forums.
we’ll begin taking orders and shipping a new batch of 40h kits on november 30th at 1pm EST. order links will be posted then. we will not be taking pre-orders. we emphasize that the kit includes only the circuits, components, and keypads for a 40h-like device—you’re responsible for creating your own enclosure and top plate.
here are some examples and project logs from the first batch of kits, and see the assembly guide to get an idea of the soldering process.

thank you for the incredible support which has enabled us to continue making new devices—we couldn’t be happier with this creative, growing community.
moving into our second week, we’ve shipped 50 units. a few more will go out tomorrow and then there will be a bit of a delay until we receive our next shipment of wood enclosures. we’re expecting to resume shipping on november 7. we appreciate your patience.
revbean and jmelnyk have new video for you to see, and steveduda put together some fantastic tutorials for monochrome (his vst/au monome sequencer/interface)—see part 1 and part 2 or read about it.

in the last hours before shipping the first units we created a display algorithm which runs on the two fifty six when it’s powered but not connected to a computer.
it’s loosely based on conway’s life with the addition of mapped probabilities. music by ro from his recent ep jetties.
we’re busy assembling circuits and finishing wood enclosures. monday a large stack will be shipped, bringing a new urgency to completing our documentation and updated applications. they’ll be ready promptly.

conway’s game of life running in chuck (it took minutes to adapt the old 40h code, and we’re working on adapting multi-dimensional versions of our other patches).
