createdigitalmusic has put together a virtual-physical crossover internet publication (on demand via lulu) which features a bit of monome and an introductory dialog on open hardware in addition to many other nice topics:
from the beginning people have been creating new ways of interfacing monome devices with ableton live. it started simply by having keypads send midi notes and lights activated by incoming midi notes. we’ve come a very long way, as the above video demonstrates: sevenuplive by makingthenoise using java.
also check out other ableton live interfacing projects: pages allows multiple applications to run at once, with multiple ableton-specific modes. monome basic uses the liveAPI and python. drumwreck, liveio, and livestep by anton interface with live in various ways.
soon we’ll be relocating to the catskills. the monome factory will live in the huge barn shown above (when there is not snow on the ground.) we’re planning various endeavors to make our workplace carbon neutral, the land abundant, and our days full of antics.
